#1 What experience have you had with designing something for a client (even if it was a friend)? How did it turn out? Was there something that happened that you didn’t expect? What would you do differently next time?

Unfortunately, I have not had experience with designing something for a client, but I have been asked by a friend for an opinion in how certain layouts, labels, or anything related to a design. So this will be my first time working with a client, which is nerve racking. Since I haven’t had any experience I want to learn how to understand what a client might want and need.

#2 What did you learn about your client that you didn’t already know? Was anything particularly surprising or striking about the experience? Before the experience, what were some assumptions you had about your client and how did they change?

Well for me I learned that our client wants the same improvements made for the website as my group did, which is to have a more efficient website that met the goals of Fresno Sister Cities. One thing in particularly that I thought was surprising about this experience is that some clients know that there website needs a change, but they just don’t know how or don’t have the cost to change it. My assumptions have to deal with my experience, on how I thought the client will try to say that there website is well put together just needs little change. But with Fresno Sister Cities they understand that there website isn’t user friendly and needs improvement. So next time I meet with a client I won’t assume much about what a client likes or dislikes about there website, and I would just wait till after getting all my answers from the creative brief.
